Beitbridge braces for SA, Zim clash

HARARE - Dancehall and House music fans in Beitbridge are in for a treat tonight when top sound systems from Zimbabwe and South Africa clash at Pagomba Cafe.

The Pre-Xmas House versus Dancehall party is being organised by Zimbabwe-born and South Africa-based promoter Sevious Pasipanodya, who is known in entertainment circles as SVS.

Headlining the highly-anticipated show is Gagasi FM’s DJ Webster, a South African wheel spinner, who specialises in house music. He will share the stage with two of the Zimbabwe’s top dancehall sound systems Madd House and Silverstone.

Madd House will be represented by the dynamic duo of Sky Toppa and 9 Voice while Silverstone will be represented by legendary selector Jackie B.

The artistes billed to perform at the event are Zimdancehall pioneer Badman, rising chanter MC Ghetto Junior as well as Transit Crew front man Cello Culture who will present a solo act.

After igniting Beitbridge, the House versus Dancehall party will move across the Limpopo to Messina on Saturday where it will be hosted by the Black Arena club.

“We are very excited to be bringing a show that showcases dancehall and house music as it brings people who love the two different genres together for one big party,” said Sky Toppa of Madd House.

“This is the second time this year we have worked with SVS International. In September, we collaborated on the Summer Slam Tour that saw us together with Smiley of Legendary Sound touring Pretoria.

“This time around I am sure it is going to be another big hook up because dancehall and House music both command a huge following in Zimbabwe and South Africa.”
