Sables scrummie Mudariki joins UJ

HARARE - Zimbabwe scrum-half Hilton Mudariki, who was at Buck New University in the United Kingdom, has joined University of Johannesburg (UJ) ahead of the 2015 Varsity Cup.

Mudariki was offered a full bursary to study Sports Psychology and a rugby contract for the 2015 season at the prestigious university, which has rich history of rugby.

UJ is also one of the feeders of Super Rugby franchise Lions.

The young half-back had an impressive year with Sables and was one of the team’s stars during Zimbabwe’s failed World Cup qualification bid in Madagascar earlier this year.

His exploits did not go unnoticed, earning him brief stints with English giants Saracens and Australian team Cottesloe.

Mudariki has an impressive resume, having represented KwaZulu Natal, as a Michaelhouse schoolboy, at the Under-18 Craven Week in 2010.

Soon after high school, he featured for the Western Province Under-19 Currie Cup side before moving to England, where he has grown in leaps and bounds.

A member of Zimbabwe’s Sevens team, Mudariki possesses a lethal boot, coupled with good accuracy and great awareness to detect proceedings.
