Celebration unleashes another singer

HARARE - Celebration Church’s famed production line, which spawned star musicians like Prince Mafukidze and Carol Wutawunashe, has unleashed yet another talented musician Tinashe Nyamukapa.

Nyamukapa, 26, has released a 12-track album which featured Texas-based gospel musician Comfort Manyame, Zimpraise lead singer Tendai Zhou as well as rising singer and fellow Celebration Church member Janet Manyowa.

On his new album titled When We Pray, Nyamukapa roped in some of Zimbabwe’s celebrated instrumentalists who include Oliver Mtukudzi’s bassist Enock Piroro, Mokoomba lead guitarist Trust Samende and Simba Dembedza who plays drums for Victor Kunonga.

The 26-year-old musician, whose music mirrors Celebration Choir’s Tambira Jehovha released in 2000, integrates various music elements.

Nyamukapa, a worship leader in Celebration Church, has praised his church for giving him the platform to realise his passion for music.

“Celebration Church is my home. Our pastors teach us well. Praise and worship music is a critical part of our lifestyle,” he told the Daily News.

“In years to come, I see my music impacting the nations and being sung in various churches around the world. I also see myself helping other youths to bring out the gifts they have.”

Potential hits on the yet-to-be-launched album include Vhangeri, which is a blend of contemporary gospel music and jiti as well as a thanksgiving song titled Munondisimudzira Jesu.
