Delvin opens new page

HARARE - Delvin Page has won his major silverware as a bodybuilder after triumphing at a recent contest held in Gweru.

The 21-year-old from Bulawayo was excited to finish off his junior bodybuilding career on a high at the Midlands Grand Prix juniors category as he looks set to move over to the seniors’ category starting next year.

“It was an important victory for me and a boost for my career as I take a giant step into the seniors, was really excited about that,” Page recalls his victory.

“It has been a long road to the top for me, a bit frustrating as well in that I had been coming third in most of my competitions. This is a perfect send-off for me as I join the seniors. Once you do it (win) it remains a greater part of your DNA so am happy to tread on that bigger platform.”

Page saw off the challenge of Emmanuel Ndapasuwa of Olympia gym in Kwekwe and Jacob Masanhire of Harare’s Bodytech gym who settled for second and third place respectively.

In the male fitness figure, Simbarashe Mhaka continued with his winning ways after the Musclemania and Mr Zimbabwe wins by coming out tops ahead of Leeroy Antonio, Everson Maverendi and Gift Meki.

Sandy Ncube was the only Ms Figure contestant and the 21-year-old from Gweru’s Muscle and Fitness gym was declared the winner.

In the Fitness Expo Strongman Challenge, Frank Stoddart of Muscle and Fitness beat Mike Mvenge of Harare’s Fitness Planet.

Isaac “Sugar” Chimuchenga ensured that the party went on after winning the Midlands Grand Prix on the night as Gweru City celebrated its 100 years jubilee.

The Gweru-based Zimbabwean hulk romped to victory in a contest that also pitted Harare’s Irvine Dekeya and Kadoma-based Tapiwa Chibota.
