Sibanda remains locked up

HARARE - Ex-war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda remains in police custody with sources saying he is likely to appear in court tomorrow facing charges of undermining the authority of the President.

Sibanda’s lawyer, Sobuza Gula Ndebele declined to give details of the whereabouts of the firebrand war veteran, who was arrested on Friday.

“I am not at liberty to say where he is because I have no authority from my client,” he said.

People linked to embattled Vice President Joice Mujuru are living in perpetual fear as reports indicate that more of those close to the vice president have been placed on a hit list to be targeted for persecution.

Online publications reported yesterday that Sibanda was detained in Harare and that his family was allowed to visit him.

Sibanda was arrested at his Kenellys Farm in Nyamandlovu by plain clothes officers who were reportedly dispatched from Harare.

The former liberation war veterans’ leader was  bundled into a police van in front of his family members and driven to Harare where he was detained at an undisclosed police station.

“I can confirm that we were allowed to see Sibanda today and he is in high spirits,” a war veteran and a friend of Sibanda was quoted saying by online publications.

Sibanda, according to the State-controlled publications was arrested under the Criminal Codification Act for his utterances of a bedroom coup in the First Family’s house.

Indeed Sibanda deserves to be arrested and charged with treason. This lunatic, for no reason, threatened to mobilize people and march to State House to stop what he termed "Boardroom or Bedroom Coup". What exactly is that animal this fool was talking about? Most of us take it that he intended to go to State House with a mob of thugs to eject the bona fide residents of the place - i.e. the 1st Family. If that is not treason, then what can ever be?

I hear that Sibanda is 45. So he was 11 years old at independence. Our liberation armies did not recruit child soldiers, so I think Jabu's claim of being a war veteran is false, and I don't know why real war veterans at one time agreed to be led by a non ex-combatant. About his arrest, well, he is being swallowed by his own.

I caught myself over the weekend feeling really, really heart sore for this whole Mujuru bunch. I know that the Lord's judgment has been falling on every asset and facet of Zimbabwe since 2000. The tool for judgment was to be ZPF and then, last of all the tool itself would be judged. It looks like the so called 'moderate' group are falling first. I wonder what judgment is in store for the so called 'hardliners?' I asked the Lord why I would be feeling so sorry for a bunch of people who have mad life hell in Zimbabwe for 15 years and cause so much suffering, loss, bloodshed, violence and destruction. And I realised that I have that redeemed heart; a heart that like the Lord himself, takes no pleasure in the judgment of the wicked nor the death of the wicked. our heart is to see them repent, turn from their evil ways and be restored. The 'half' of ZPF that has so far survived the axe should be warned. Whatever you have sown you will reap. Judgment is coming. The only way out from God's wrath for any one of us is repentance; a complete turning to Christ and His cross. That means confessing our sin and changing our ways. Only in Him is this possible!
