Masomere 'crowns' ZPC Kariba

HARARE - Despite documented links with Dynamos, How Mine coach Luke Masomere says it will be a “disgrace” if the serial Zimbabwean champions go on to win league title ahead of ZPC Kariba.

Masomere, whose team play Dynamos in a crucial last game of the season on Sunday, insisted he will not shed tears if he is the man to deny the Glamour Boys yet another league title, declaring ZPC favourites for the championship.

How Mine travel to Harare on Sunday to face Dynamos, who need to win the game to be in with a chance of winning a fourth straight Castle Premiership title.

Dynamos will retain their title if challengers ZPC Kariba falter in their decisive last game against CAPS United.

Saul Chaminuka’s ZPC have the destiny of the title in their own hands. The PSL debutants are on 56 points while DeMbare have not given up the fight on 54 points.

Victory or a draw over CAPS United on Sunday will be enough to secure a first league crown for the Zimbabwe Power Company-owned side.

“I personally feel ZPC Kariba have already won the league title,” Masomere told the Daily News yesterday.

“They won it when they beat Dynamos. Mathematically, Dynamos are still in with a chance but in reality they have lost the battle.

“If Dynamos go on to win the title, it will be a disgrace to our Premiership.”

And Masomere, who has professed an undying love for Dynamos, has promised to adhere to strict sportsmanship by playing to win against the Glamour Boys.

“As a professional club, we are going to do our duty in a professional manner,” he said.

“It’s going to be an interesting match. They are desperate for the three points and they would want to attack from the word go. We will give back as much as we get. They will be under pressure to win, which is an advantage to us.”

Masomere joined the Bulawayo miners mid-season with the task of steering the team out of the relegation zone, which he managed to do.

“Now that we have achieved that, it’s about fair play now. We are determined to collect maximum points.”

Sunday: Harare City v Chicken Inn (Rufaro), Triangle v Shabanie Mine (Gibbo), Black Rhinos v Bantu Rovers (Rimuka), Buffaloes v Hwange (Sakubva), FC Platinum v Chiredzi FC (Mandava), Highlanders v Chapungu (Hartsfield), ZPC Kariba v CAPS United (Gwanzura, SS), Dynamos v How Mine (NSS).
