Tsholotsho promoted into PSL

HARARE - Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League side Tsholotsho have secured promotion into the Castle Premiership League after beating visiting Hwange Under-20s 1-0 on Saturday.

With one game to go before the end of the season, Lizwe Sweswe’s side took full advantage of slip-ups by their rivals Black Boots and Technospehere, who both drew against Mpumulanga and Newest respectively.

This result means Black Boots and Technosphere can only amass a total of 52 points if they were to win in their last games of the season so cannot overtake Tsholotsho.

“We are very happy by winning a slot in the top-flight and this is largely because of unity in the team,” Tsholotsho coach Sweswe told the Daily News yesterday.

“It was not easy during the course of the season but we kept encouraging each other and as coaches we always tell our players not to lose heart when the results were not coming our way.

“Most of the time I prayed to God and today my prayers have been answered.”

Welcome to real football, Tsholotsho. I'm over the moon that a team from rural Matebeleland has made it into big time soccer. Gives the lie to all those who want us to believe that nothing worthwhile can come out of the region. Sethule!
