Mare's chance to shine at Misty's tonight

HARARE - Rising songbird Cynthia Mare, who surprisingly scooped three awards at the Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima)  held at the end  of last month, has the perfect chance to show her talent when she performs at Misty’s tonight.

With many still querying how she landed Zima gongs in the Best Alternative Music Award, Best Single and Best Female Artiste categories, Mare’s show will likely attract a reasonable crowd.

The Zuva Rimwe singer is expected to play a new track called Moto Ngaubvire which will feature on her forthcoming album due for release next year.

Kunonga, Chipfumo descend on Dandaro

Music fans eager to get an insight into Victor Kunonga’s forthcoming 12-track album titled Kwedu are likely to flock to Dandaro Inn in the Harare Showgrounds where the Afro-jazz star will perform tonight.

Kunonga, who will release his latest and fourth album at the end of the month, is scheduled to share the stage with Progress Chipfumo.

Hip-hop extravaganza tonight

Tonight the Book Café will host the Afrikan hip-hop Caravan as part of eight scheduled gigs between Cape Town and Tunis.

Tonight’s high-powered concert will feature Mic Crenshaw from Portland in the United States of America who will be backed by Zimbabwe’s DJ Trickx, Sounds of the South from South Africa, Biko MC from Zimbabwe and the Chitown Hip-Hop Collective also from Zimbabwe which will feature New Alliance, Lincoln and Conneki .

Mataruse returns to Misty’s

Munyaradzi Mataruse, who was mentored by music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, will perform at the Newlands-based Misty’s Club tomorrow night.

Young Igwe to serenade Masvingo

Peter “Young Igwe” Moyo and the Utakataka Express, who begin their weekend programme tonight in the suburb of Mbizo in Kwekwe, will perform at Ritz Night Club in Masvingo tomorrow night.

Moyo will then conclude his weekend gigs on Sunday at Huruyadzo Night Club based at Chivi Turnoff.

Dancehall vibes at City Sports Bar

Dancehall stars Freeman, Ras Caleb and Platinum Prince will perform at City Sports Bar tomorrow night in what has been dubbed the “Drink Up Party”.

Zoey dates Private Lounge

Dance enthusiasts have the chance to enjoy a pole dancing show at the Private Lounge tonight featuring Zoey, Apama, Creamy Loliops, Cocoa and La Dolce.

Women’s Arts Festival this afternoon

Before the Afrikan Hip-Hop Caravan concert, the Book Café will host the Women’s Arts Festival which presents a two-woman play called Mothers performed by Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda and Musa Sibanda.

The play directed by Thembi Ngwabi, is about, a woman who gets caught up by her past; it is full of unexpected twists and suspense.

The play is presented by Women in Theatre (Wit) and Nhimbe Trust and will attract no entry fees.

Another Mawungira mbira show tonight

Mawungira eNharira, arguably Zimbabwe’s best mbira band, will hold their regular gig in the Book Café Gardens tonight.

Transit Crew back at Book Cafe

Zimbabwe’s oldest reggae group, Transit Crew, who recently welcomed back vocalist Mannex, will be the main act on the Book Café stage tomorrow night.
