D1 title race reaches climax

HARARE - With three matches before the end of World Navi Northern Region Soccer League, its getting hot at the top each passing week with log leaders Flame Lily, second-placed Gunners and Mushowani all fighting for the title.

Flame Lily lead the table with only one point ahead of Gunners.

The Prison Service side consolidated their lead after beating Commando 1-0 on Wednesday while Gunners and Mushowani beat Black Mambas 2-1 and DStv Rangers 2-0 respectively to maintain pressure on Flame Lily.

With the win, Mushowani trail the log leaders with five points and are currently in third position.

Flame Lily coach Nesbert Saruchera believes they are in a good position to win the promotion to the Premiership.

“I think our chances of winning the title are now very high,” said Flame Lilly coach Nesbert Saruchera.

“We need to win all our remaining games, I always say to my boys that at this stage there is no room for errors.

“We are playing Lake Harvest over the weekend; we need to win that game. We cannot afford to drop points at this stage.”

Flame Lilly face Lake Harvest, Starbill and Black Mambas in their remaining fixtures.
