Mangwiro prays for dramatic twist

HARARE - CAPS United coach Taurai Mangwiro has not given up totally on the Castle Premiership title, but admits it will take a dramatic twist if his team is to win the championship.

The Green Machine face Harare City at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday hoping to collect maximum points and at the same time pray that Dynamos and ZPC Kariba cancel each other out when they clash in a potential title decider at the National Sports Stadium.

United are sixth on the standings, five points off the top spot with only two games to go.

And with a two-horse race between Dynamos and ZPC dominating newspaper headlines, Mangwiro concedes his team is now clutching at straws after losing their way in recent weeks, but has warned there could be more twist and turns in the title race.

“We are at a point where anything can happen. We have not given up yet, as there are six points to play for,” Mangwiro told the Daily News yesterday.

“We will definitely give it our best and try to claim maximum points starting with the match against Harare City.  To be honest it is going to be a difficult task.

“Our match against Harare City will not be easy, I think there is still going to be a lot of twist and turns in these last two matches. Bantu Rovers managed to stop Dynamos but before the game, no one would think that they would manage to snatch a point at Rufaro.”

Mangwiro was referring to relegated Bantu Rovers’ nil all draw with table-toppers and title favourites Dynamos last week.”
