Tsholotsho shoot to the top

HARARE - Tsholotsho coach Lizwe Sweswe believes they are now in a good position to win the championship after beating Technosphere to shoot to the top of the Southern Region Division One Soccer League over the weekend.

An 85th minute goal from Edmore Chirambadare was enough for Tsholotsho to go on top of Southern Region log standing with three games to go before the end of the season.

With their victory Sweswe’s charges now lead the log standing with 48 points three points ahead of second placed Technosphere.

“I wasn’t looking for championship this season however, our chances of winning the promotion ticket are now high with our weekend victory,” Sweswe told the Daily News yesterday.

“We have left with only three games but one of our remaining games is against Portland cement which will be walkover as you know that Portland is now defunct.

“We are looking to win our remaining games and I told my boys that we need to be more focused at this stage of the season.

“We just need to play our normal game and as the log leaders we need to maintain our winning ways to remain on top position.

“We don’t want to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure. As the coach I am happy with the performance of the players this season.

Tsholotsho will face Hwange Juniors and Mpumalanga in other remaining two fixtures.

“We approach every match with caution, there are no easy games at this stage, to tell you the truth this is one of the toughest season in southern region race, if you look at the past seasons at this stage the champions could be have already crowned.

“I think we have manage to achieve this because this team has been together for a long time and the youngsters now knows each other very well,” added Sweswe.
