Hollywood make-up artist opens window for locals

HARARE - Vault Cosmetics founder and Hollywood celebrity make-up artist — Jackie Muchanyuka-Mgido — has opened a window for locals to follow her path.

The celebrated Muchanyuka-Mgido will hold lessons for aspiring make-up artists in Harare from November 11.

Muchanyuka-Mgido has worked with world class actors that include Denzel Washington and rapper-cum-actor-James Todd “LL Cool J” Smith.

She told the Daily News that the lessons will be done through Harare-based Vault Cosmetics that she formed two years ago.

“The lessons will begin on November 11 and will be done three times a week for over a month,” she said.

“I have worked in Hollywood as a make-up artist for 17 years, taught at the best make-up school in Hollywood. I still work as a make-up artist in Hollywood whenever I am not working on my TV shows.

“I am just excited to bring skills that I mastered to Zimbabwe and most of all to help women or men start their own business under the proper guidance and acquire a lifelong skill to have the tools and products to be successful,” she told the Daily News.

“Yes, the tools and products are included in the price. This is my life, to change your life for all of us to make history.”

The cosmetics entrepreneur comes to Zimbabwe every two to three months to train her Vault Cosmetics team on new techniques.

Muchanyuka-Mgido, who intends to expand her cosmetics business throughout the southern African region, recently engaged Big Brother Africa 2013 Dillish Matthews as the face of her lipstick and lipgloss range.
