Gweru Fitness Expo preps intensifies

HARARE - The inaugural Health, Fitness and Wellness Expo scheduled for Gweru this weekend will see Dairibord taking full sponsorship of the 5km road run set for Saturday morning.

The three-day Expo, being jointly organised by fitness professional Samson Mapuranga and bodybuilder Munashe Matandirotya, will run from Friday to Sunday.

Several stakeholders will partner the organisers with various sponsorship packages.

The exhibition will feature the bodybuilding contest dubbed the Midlands Grand Prix Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships. The contest will feature the juniors (Under-21s), men’s fitness physique, ladies fitness figure and the senior men’s bodybuilding show.

“The main aim of hosting this Expo is to raise awareness and promote health, fitness and wellness in communities and create a platform where service providers and product manufacturers within these industries interface directly with users and buyers of their products,” Matandirotya told the Daily News yesterday.

“We are happy with the support that we are getting from various sponsors. Dairibord Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd is sponsoring the 5km-run that will take place on Saturday morning.”

The other confirmed event sponsors include Evox Advanced Nutrition, KenLink Pharmacies, Food Express, No Limit Supplements, Eastside Fashions, Regency Hotel Fairmile, Perspectives and Sinosi Media.

Apart from the main bodybuilding contest, doors will also be opened to other fitness contests such tug-of-war, powerlifting (bench press, squat and deadlift), strongman challenge (truck pull and tyre flip), a 5km walk, boot camp and obstacle courses. There will also be bucket competitions, team building group challenges as well as aerobathons comprising of a non-stop aerobics incorporating Zumba, step and taebo.
