Push to oust pro-Mujuru chairman

MASVINGO - The Zanu PF provincial executive here is agitating for the ouster of Masvingo chairman, retired brigadier general Killion Gwanetsa and his executive.

A no confidence vote was passed at Masvingo Chief’s Hall yesterday where about 70 provincial members, led by vice chairman Paradzai Chakona, signed a petition accusing the leadership of being anti-First Lady Grace Mugabe, among other issues.

“This letter and its content is a true reflection of a collective decision by the majority members of Masvingo Zanu PF provincial members,” read the petition. “Members met today (yesterday) October 30, 2014 and resolved as well as recommended to pass a vote of no confidence in the provincial chairman, Killion Kalisto Gwanetsa (Rtd Brig General).”

Gwanetsa and his executive, which is aligned to Vice President Joice Mujuru’s faction, were also accused of plotting to oust President Robert Mugabe and defying a politburo directive to stop campaigning for presidium candidates.

They were accused of moving around the province campaigning for Mujuru to retain her current position, together with national chairman Simon Khaya Moyo to become the second vice president and Didymus Mutasa to become the national chairman.

The Zaka Central MP Chakona was announced the acting chairman until fresh elections are held.

A number of youths and women hired from the province’s seven districts as well as members of the provincial executive broke into song and dance soon after the petition was read by Chakona.

They did the Kongonya dance and chanted the politically-charged “Pasi neGamatox” slogan.

The move has been seen as part of efforts by the Emmerson Mnangagwa faction to purge all structures sympathetic to Mujuru ahead of the party’s elective congress in December.

Gwanetsa becomes the second provincial chairman to face a vote of no confidence after Mashonaland West’s Temba Mliswa.

“On October 18, Gwanetsa allegedly singularly and autocratically summoned an inter-district meeting at Jerera Growth Point.

“Cde Gwanetsa tried to reverse everything the first lady Amai Grace Mugabe (Dr) said during her visit to Masvingo,” the petition said. “He spoke strongly against the first lady and her proposed appointment to lead the Women’s League.”

The executive was also accused of failing to hold provincial executive meetings regularly, co-opting members into structures fraudulently and nominating presidium candidates without the consent of the general membership.

Gwanetsa said: “If it is what they have done zvakanaka, its fine, that’s all i can say, no more comment to the media.”

MaiMujuru is on her way out. Next on the firing line is Amos Midzi then Kaukonde. Before you know it Dr Grace will have 8 provinces supporting her. Already, Mutasa has sruck a deal with Mugabe so Manicaland is now in the bag.

Since when has opposing the First Lady, in any country in the world, become a punishable offence. The idiocy in ZANU (pf) is monumental. Is Mrs Grace Mugabe God?

In my culture there is a saying that suggests Shona people follow the wind. They can change their mind just like that, like they have suspended any thinking! Really now? I don't like Mujuru, I don't like Mnangagwa. But where are they that voted for Mujuru? Where are they that supported Simba Makoni? Where is this country going? I don't care who wins this fight but its time our electorate showed some character. In Matebeleland we supported Nkomo to the end. Even under difficult circumstances. That is what Mutasa, Mujuru Kaukonde supporters must do....... Show us what you are made of!

I agree with MaMoyo. The congress elections are going to be a farce, getting rid of Mujuru and all her allies. Jonathan Moyo has done it. He has managed to divide ZANU PF. He is going to work with the temporarily successful Munangagwa faction and mark my words, he will also divide it and ultimately totally destroy the party. No wonder in Wikileaks, the Americans called him a useful messenger. To the Americans, a useful messenger is a superspy. Even those who think they are using him will be very surprised, they are being sold a dummy, they will be left holding a shell of the party.

Personally I have no sympathy for either Mujuru or Munangagwa, none of them deserve or are capable of ruling this country. Ascendency of either one of them is a cruel twist of events that we neither deserve nor need in Zimbabwe. Both are known ruthless and corrupt people with very little democratic tendencies or leadership skills. As for Mugabe he is the worst of the lot , I find it amazing that in all this , Zanu pf supporters still see him as blameless. He is the instigator of all this, the author of all our maladies. Mujuru's supporters claiming her innocence are like a man vouching for his daughter's virginity in a whorehouse, as ruthlessness and corruption goes, Mnangagwa is the queen whore. A third way will emerge from all these, neither the ruling party or the opposition as currently constituted have the will or the wherewithal to take Zimbabwe forward. As we the people of Zimbabwe have failed to dispose of this regime for all 34 years, we have to be patient and wait upon God, I repeat, in all this a third way shall be provided by God.

In all this emerging drama, I have not heard anything about the Security Chiefs position i.e. Army, Police, Prisons and CIO. Can anyone enlighten me on their possible input on the succession and mud- slinging drama that is unfolding.

So it allowed for Grace to campaign for the igher post but Mai Mujuru is forbidden . Zim gyz enlighten me on this one . It is sinful for the VP to campaign for a post but its not sinful when a first lady campaign for the same post . Samanyika vafarisa rimwe zuva vakati handichaziva kuti imwi ndini kana kuti ini ndimwi. Kuridza here pito yekuti Mujuru akafa ngatitambudzei mukadzi wacho . But what i know is that the God i know is for Widows and Orphans . He has never abandoned them form the beginning up until kingdom comes.
