Prudence to release videos at year end

HARARE - Female jazz sensation, Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana, will release videos of her self-titled album before year-end.

The soulful diva told the Daily News videos of the album Prudence which was released in 2011 were delayed because of motherhood engagements.

“I have been working on videos for the last album because I think I delayed the process.

The last album was three years ago. I have been busy raising the kids,” Katomeni-Mbofana said.

“My last born is a year old. There has been a lot more of that than performances, I have been doing performances here and there but my focus is on the kids,” she said.

The talented vocalist said motherhood at the moment is the highest priority for her.

“It’s been a process with the kids and all, between the launch of the CD and now I have two kids so the kids have been taking up most of the time. What I like about my career is that at times I can go with my kids to work. At times I even have rehearsals at home.

“I think that’s the greatest advantage. I think as any other career woman, it’s a bit hard to work and be there for the homework and things like that, as well as juggle your career at the same time,” she told the Daily News.

She said among her four children, the eldest had a promising future in music.

“The older one, yes, definitely, I see him doing music. The other two, they like singing but maybe because they are in that environment. I haven’t yet picked up voices. My children are 17, 15, three years and one year three month old, respectively”, revealed Katomeni-Mbofana.

She recently put on an impressive performance at the Czech Republic national day commemorations which were held at the embassy offices in Harare on Monday.

The delightful songbird belted out the Czech national anthem as well as the Zimbabwean national anthem, much to the awe of guests present.

“What they did is that they gave me the lyrics, and then I asked for translation. I went home, did my research and listened to various other Czech singers on YouTube.

“After I did that we agreed that we would meet with the ambassador, when I came to see him he was happy. The anthem just talks about their land and how beautiful it is, just like our anthem,” said the BP singer.
