Bosso lose again

BULAWAYO - There was drama here yesterday as Highlanders fans charged at striker Charles Sibanda calling for his blood after the defeat to Chicken Inn in a Bulawayo derby.

Immediately after he was substituted Sibanda went straight to the dressing room before making his way to the terraces.

The police swiftly moved in to calm the situation as angry Bosso fans called the striker, who is believed to be on his way to Dynamos next season, all sorts of names.

One fan was heard saying, “Go to your Dynamos, and don’t come back. We heard long back that you are going to Dynamos.

“You are a mercenary and we will deal with you.”

Sibanda had been substituted in the second half following three occasions where he was given instructions by his coach Mark Mathe and appeared to do the opposite.

This might be the last straw and could spell his exit from the club he joined at the start of the season from FC Platinum.

After the match, Mathe said he was going to discipline Sibanda.

“We can’t let such indiscipline go unpunished. We have our way of dealing with such issues at Highlanders and we will definitely deal with him,” he said.

Highlanders again disappointed their supporters yesterday with a subdued performance against their city rivals.

After a quiet first half, the Gamecocks scored shortly after the break through the impressive George Majika .

Clemence Matawu got possession outside the box before finding Ismael Lawe, who in turn set up Majika who had all the time in the world to control before finding his mark to beat Bosso keeper Munyaradzi Diya.

After falling behind, Mathe introduced Ozias Zibande, Knox Mutizwa and King Nadolo for Kudzanai Machazane, Welcome Ndiweni and the ineffective Sibanda.

The three substitutes brought a new dimension to the Bosso game as they forced the Chicken Inn defence to defend deep.

The Bulawayo giants, however, failed to get the equaliser and dropped to seventh place on the log with 39 points after the game.

Bosso are now in danger of failing to defend their Mbada Diamonds Cup title as they need to finish in the top four to play in the tournament at the end of the season.

As much as I like Dembare but what is happening at Bosso is bad. There is so much indiscipline in the team, in the administration and in the terraces and seriously you cannot expect anything. You strip a player of his captaincy and expect him to perfom, that is childish. The whole team needs a complete overhaul, the administration needs a complete overhaul so that we have the Bosso we know. They should do away with their tribalist behaviour because it also distracts players.
