Zim perish on day one

HARARE - Zimbabwe lasted 76.2 overs before being dismissed for 241 on the first day of the three-day warm-up match against Bangladesh Cricket Board X1 at Fatullah yesterday.

One Day International captain Elton Chigumbura, who negotiated himself back in the first bowling change struck with his third delivery when he had Shadman Islam caught by captain Brendan Taylor for a duck.

BCB X1 currently trail by 230 runs with nine wickets remaining after closing day one on 11-1 in five overs.

Disguised as the Zimbabweans, Test captain Taylor decided to put their Triangle spin-camp into practice by confronting the host with the bat when he chose to bat after winning the toss.

Struggling opener, Vusi Sibanda bade farewell to the crease for an eight-ball eight runs in the third over after he was bowled by seamer Robiul Islam.

Matebeleland Tuskers batsman, Brian Chari (17) added the visitors’ highest partnership of 63 runs with Sikandar Raza Butt for the second wicket before he was caught by substitute fielder uncapped seamer Mehedi Hasan to leave Zimbabwe on 72-2 after 25.4 overs.

The Chittagong Division left-arm seamer, Hasan grabbed his second wicket 10 deliveries later when he had Raza caught behind by wicketkeeper Mohammad Jashimuddin for 44 runs in the 28th over.

Chigumbura added 39 runs; Hamilton Masakadza scored 24 while his siblings Shingi (22) and Wellington contributed 33 runs for the last wicket.

The DRS however, comes with huge costs for the hosts as they are scheduled to part ways with at least $100 000.
