'Grace is a liar'

HARARE - Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC and Simba Makoni’s Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn (MKD) parties have both rejected accusations by First Lady Grace Mugabe that the opposition parties were formed at Vice President Joice Mujuru’s house.

While MKD spokesperson Evans Sagomba strenuously denied the allegation saying the issue will be exhaustively clarified at a Tuesday press briefing by Makoni, MDC spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora said Grace was lying and should stop trying to rope the MDC into Zanu PF fights.

“It’s absolute rubbish,” Mwonzora told a news conference at the Harvest House party headquarters in Harare yesterday.

“This is a wild accusation. MDC was not formed in a private place. The processes that took place before the formation of MDC were held in public arenas.

“The idea was first mulled by the ZCTU and then we had our national working people’s convention and other meetings ensued before the launch of the MDC.

“So it is wild for the first lady to try and link the MDC to Mujuru.

“The party was formed after the realisation that a black government can also be oppressive just like a white government under Ian Smith.”

Mwonzora added: “We are glad that Grace is dismantling Zanu PF for us and we thank her.”

Turning to the forthcoming MDC congress, Mwonzora said the party’s national executive that met yesterday received a report about the nominations and the verdict was that they were free and fair.

Tsvangirai, his deputy Thokozani Khupe, national chairman Lovemore Moyo and deputy secretary-general Paurina Mpariwa face no challenge.

Morgen Komichi and Gift Chimanikire will tussle it out for the vice chairman post.

Organising secretary Nelson Chamisa and Mwonzora will battle it out for the secretary-general post, while Theresa Makone and Tapiwa Mashakada will slug it out for the treasurer general post.

Obert Gutu will square off with Mwonzora for the national spokesperson post.

Mwonzora said those nominated for two posts will be given one week to choose one.

If anyone takes those claims by Grace Mugabe serious they should also put themselves for mental examination. For is is a high sounding nothing it goes to show how inept and confused political situation we are in in Zimbabwe

those who thought they were handling the first lady should know that insulting the vp created an unnecessary crack in our party. now there appears a clear line of factions in zanu than before.

MDC and this Mavambo thing stop responding to Grace, you will only give her mileage. Let us wait and hear what uncle Bob will say first. Please do not get sucked into this ZANU fiasco. Concentrate in planning for your congresess and plans for 2018 but please don't forget the voter's roll and to make sure you tell people to register..please, especially those turning 18 next year and in 2017. Siyai vanhu veZANU vaite sinjonjo chavo

The opposition officials should not worry themselves trying to deny. Any fool would have predicted that they were going to strenuously deny this. Denying it does not mean it is false. For example, Dabengwa has already revealed some of these allegations.

There was tacit support from the late general Mujuru, and Amai Mujuru has a white son in law, so its not surprising, and they were making money from the diamods, and why was she removed from the sanctions list so early, coz of her sell out tricks

Zimbabweans are not as dull

Dr. Crack - 20 October 2014

My advice to both Simba and Morgan: Take a leaf from Mai Mujuru- don't even give that madwoman the dignity of a reply. Remember " Never argue with a fool, people might not notice the difference""!

The party was formed after the realisation that a black government can also be oppressive just like a white government under Ian Smith”, said MDC-T's Mwonzora. I only saw this news item today. Utter, utter garbage. In which way was Ian Smith's government oppressive? I am much older than Mwonzora, born and bred in Salisbury and I can categorically state, without any hesitation, that Ian Smith was by far and away the best prime minister of this land. Smith was a realist not an oppressor. Mwonzora never experienced life as a working adult in Rhodesia. He was in the Reserves. I don't know this man. I can take him on on this issue. There was no oppression under Smith. Where was the oppression? Unsubstantiated nonsense. The truth is that the MDC ws formed by people who also wanted political power not to fight ZanuPF oppression. When they were invited to form a coalition with the oppressors in ZanuPF the MDC forgot all about oppression. It was all about political power, nothing else.

Now ZVIROZVIYEDZWA has come out as a ZPF person. He previously masqueraded as a ''RENEWAL TEAM''follower while enjoying the MDC T split as if it killed MT.No sellout'll ever attract any meaningful following. Pple are very serious in their struggle for true freedom.Biti, Ncube, Dabengwa, Madhuku,Mtambara etc cannot unite for a formidable, serious opposition party bcoz of their sellout background.

PAMUROMO CHETE - 20 October 2014

I dont think so.

To those of us who have memory and not forgetories, we know that R.G Mugabe is the one responsible for the formation of MDC. I'll support my view. Morgen Tsvangirayi had given a very strong May Day statement challenging Mugabe's poor stewardship of the economy. So powerfull was the challenge that soon after Mugabe challenged Tsvangirayi not to hide behind Labour and he said 'if you are man enough, climb into the political ring and face me'. Morgen took the challenge and formed MDC. No rocket science there.
