'Dr' Grace, define factionalism

HARARE - Despite recently acquiring a doctorate from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), First Lady Grace Mugabe remains a loose cannon and should never be allowed anywhere near a microphone.

Her tongue is full of hate speech and is a divisive element, judging from the way she has fuelled more chaos, tension and hatred in Zanu PF.

Known more for her outrageous and ridiculous shopping sprees which have aptly earned her the nickname, Gucci Grace, than for her political shrewdness, the First Lady has been on a two-week crusade, addressing so called “Meet the People” rallies, which in truth turned out to be “anti-Joice Mujuru” rallies.

The foul mouthed First Lady has used every opportunity at the rallies to attack her enemies who include Vice President Joice Mujuru, Zanu PF secretary for administration, Didymus Mutasa and all those associated with the Mujuru camp claiming they were fanning factionalism.

The hate speech Grace has been preaching at her rallies can lead to unprecedented violence as evidenced by clashes between youths at her rallies in Marondera and Mutare and the tensions her insults targeted at top Zanu PF officials have created.

Grace must understand that she is the First Lady, and should actually play a motherly role where she does not side with one child at the expense of the other.

“Dr” Grace does not seem to understand what factionalism means. One does not need to acquire a doctorate in three months, to understand that factionalism refers to arguments or disputes between two or more small groups from within a larger group.

This simply means that the larger group here is Zanu PF and it has at least two factions so why was the “learned” Grace criticising one group led by Mujuru. What about the one fronted by Defence minister Emmerson Mnangagwa?

Has she now become the leader of the Mnangagwa faction? If Grace does not know what factionalism means, then she must stop preaching what she does not know.

One attribute of people who hold doctorates is that they are masters in research but “Dr” Grace’s speeches were simply empty. Grace’s spin doctors must surely be taking morphine everyday to ease the pain she pours out from her mouth because she does not know where to begin and end.

A case in point is when she put the Daily News reporter, Fungi Kwaramba’s life in danger by openly siding with Zanu PF thugs who demonised the popular daily during the Marondera rally on Friday.

It was shameful to see the First Lady demanding to see the Daily News journalist and dress him down in the presence of blood thirsty Zanu PF thugs who could have easily battered our reporter to death.

Grace must behave like a mother and not a messenger of hate.
