Gunners drop points again

HARARE - World Navi Northern Region Division One League log leaders Gunners once again dropped points after going down 2-1 to seasoned campaigners DStv Rangers on Saturday.

Just a week after played to a one all draw against Blue Swallows in their last match, the log leaders found the going tough against DStv in their own backyard at Lafarge to record their second defeat of the season.

With the defeat Kudakwashe Musaraure’s charges are tied on 57 points with second-placed Flame Lily but Gunners boost of superior goal difference.

Flame Lily took full advantage of Gunners’ slump as they beat Chegutu Pirates 1-0 to close the gap.

DStv, who were also pre-season favourites to clinch the title this season, had a bad start and moved to seventh place on the log with 38 points.

Third-placed Mushowani continued with their winning ways after beating ZRP Morris 2-1.

The Mashonaland Central-based side are now three points behind the log leaders.

With seven games before the end of the season, the promotion race is now between Gunners, Flame Lily and Mushowani, however, Bindura United and Ngezi Platinum still have a mathematical chance of gate-crashing the party.

Bindura and Ngezi are 12 and 14 points behind Gunners.
