Magaya gives actress $18 000 for surgery

HARARE - Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) leader Walter Magaya yesterday gave ailing former Studio 263 actress Pretty Xaba $18 000 to undergo emergency surgery in India.

Xaba, who played the role of Mai Muwengwa in the first local soap, was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus last month. She needed at least $10 000 to undergo surgery in India.

Magaya had given Xaba an option to either choose to go for surgery or get spiritual healing.

“Xaba is a member of PHD Ministries and when she comes here for help, I gave her a choice either to receive money for her medication or to settle for spiritual healing here because some people are travelling from as far as India for spiritual healing,” Magaya told the Daily News yesterday.

The money was handed to Xaba’s family yesterday at PHD Ministries.

Tawonga Mafundikwa, coordinator of the ‘Lets Help Pretty Xaba Campaign’, was grateful to Magaya and PHD Ministries at large.

“I am so happy and grateful to Prophet Magaya and the entire PHD Ministries at large for coming to our rescue,” he said.

“We are happy that finally Xaba is leaving for India any day from now and we hope she will be fine.”

A couple of weeks ago, artistes held a benefit concert for Xaba at the Book Cafe. The event saw Jah Prayzah, Baba and Amai Charamba, Progress Chipfumo and BaShupi, among others, sharing the stage, but did not raise enough cash.

Xaba featured on a number of plays and dramas such as I want A Dress, Coliwe, Xola, Everyone’s Child, Studio 263 and Lobola, among others.

Biblically I don't think its wise to donate money to someone who is afflicted but the poor needs money to buy food. This shows there is something wrong when someone well known to be representing GOD fails to attend to these sickness. Its not you who heals the person but its the combination of your faith and the afflicted's faith. If the sick lacks faith then the bible clearly tells us that "Those who believe shall lay hands upon the sick and they shall recover"That lady only needs a prayer of faith and not money. We don't wrestle against blood & flesh but by powers of darkness.Every disease has a demon life in it and it needs the MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.You will cut the flesh and blood will gush out and the life of that cancer will remain in there and the person not healed what will you do? Wake up if you claim to be CHRISTIANS.

Its according to one's faith. For the man of God to ask her to make a choice, I believe pane zvavaiona mumweya. He did a noble thing by respecting her decision. Otherwise the man of God has performed various miracles on cases of cancer and other illnesses and many have been set free but its according to one's faith. Remember doctors treat but God heals.

Bridget - 7 October 2014

pretty akaratidza kusatenda muna Mwari. God heals all diseases i do not know why she doubted GOD. Man of God was not supposed to listen to her he was supposed to use his faith for her healing.

I know of one white miner in Kwekwe who has a database of just about every handicapped and disabled person in and around Kwekwe and Redcliff. Once every month he meets with them and he donates a small amount of cash to each and every one of them. He does all this without seeking any publicity, nor does he seek political relevance. He does it all out of the goodness of his own heart. To me that's a Saint.

Dr Know - 7 October 2014

for the avoidance of any doubt, I believe "Mai Muwengwa" should be assisted in her hour of need. However, I need to point out that TRUE GIVING, according to the Bible, is supposed to be done in SECRET. These so-called "men of God" are engaging in a popularity contest and so are careful to do their acts of charity in a blaze of publicity...but God blesses only true giving, done from the heart and not meant for show-off.

ZVOKWADI - 7 October 2014

So the so called Man of God failed to heal her? Oh!!!! Failed? Shocking.

in this case I see faith with common sense, You lay hands, I get healed and also you admit that Doctors are also wisdom of God, if they operate, its because God agreed it be so. So lets pray for spiritual healing and also for physical healing, its also from god. Well done here!

UNCLE REAL - 8 October 2014

Thank you Prophet Magaya for assisting our sister. It is common knowledge that not everyone will appreciate this kind of gesture, but this will not stop you. No where in the scripture is it revealed divine healing was forced on people but rather is based on faith, and in most cases faith of the person seeking healing. If we search our scriptures well ,Jesus failed to do more healing miracles because of lack of faith among those expecting healing. Should we now blame Jesus for failure to heal. If the word of God says believe first and then receive that will not be changed by anyone, even God himself honors his word. The world will pass away but His WORD will not change. Hands off the man of God.

Beloved - 8 October 2014

You can all thank magaya but GOD will not because its unscriptural what he did.The Bible says let your right hand not see what the left hand has done and also he has reduced GOD's power with money yet GOD told us HE is the healer of every disease. Its amazing to see that even prophets are doubting the WORD of GOD this means we are all going to perish if the representatives of GOD no longer have trust in HIM but in money.

charles - 9 October 2014

@Charles.Your last sentence Charles is the only statement which everyone should say for the healing of pretty if spoken by those who believe according to the Bible Mk 16:15 not thanking a person for publicly extending the gift.If it was a gift coming from the depth of a heart there was no need of cameramen and the media and all of us should not have known about it even GOD would have honoured it for healing of pretty. But now it appears as if its a public show but GOD is in private and will reward in private.Ngenyi musingade kutenda zvinorehwa ngeshoko raMWARI imwi muchiti tinonamate.
