Mugeyi takes charge of Usuthu

JOHANNESBURG - Craig Rosslee will not be on the AmaZulu bench for today’s Telkom Knockout clash against Bloemfontein Celtic and will be replaced by former Zimbabwe international Wilfred Mugeyi.

Usuthu take on Phunya Sele Sele at Princess Magogo Stadium.

KickOff reported this week that about 10 AmaZulu supporters arrived at the club’s training base and hurled insults at Rosslee, demanding that he be let go after their poor start to the campaign and, as a result, Rosslee will not be on the bench tomorrow.

“It is for safety reasons and the directors will decide next week regarding the future of the coach. For tomorrow’s match, our assistant Wilfred Mugeyi will be in charge,” a senior AmaZulu official told KickOff.

AmaZulu are the only team in the Premier Soccer League without a win after seven rounds of League matches with three draws and four losses.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu midfielder John Arwuah said they will use this cup tie to turn over a new leaf after failing to get a win in their first seven league matches.

“Our focus is on this game right now and not the league and everyone is positive and looking forward to playing well and getting the result that we need,” Arwuah said.

“It’s a plus for any team to play at home, especially against a team like Celtic. We were happy when we got the home draw but we still have to go out there and perform to make it count.”

The former Celtic player also admitted that there is a score to settle after going down 2-0 to Celtic at home in a league match earlier this season.

“It’s going to be a different game but we know the mistakes we made and now we need to avoid them on Saturday.

“We have to avoid conceding soft goals and we have to be more creative going forward and make sure that we take our chances.” – KickOff
