Darts champion seeks funding

HARARE - Zimbabwe All Africa Darts champion Kudzanayi  Nyemba  is appealing for funds to travel to Britain early next year  to represent the country at the UK Open Darts Championships.

Nyemba, who won the 2014 All Africa Zone VI Darts title at the tournament held at Reserve Bank Sports Club recently, is looking for at least $5 000 to cover his airfares and accommodation costs in England.

“I am looking for sponsorship so that I can be able to travel to Britain early next year; the funds will cater for my airfares, registration and affiliation fees,” Nyemba told the Daily News.

“It is my hope that we will find people who are willing to finance us because this exposure at such international tournaments helps us to be better darts players.”

With his recent success at Zone VI tournament, the Chinhoyi-based darts player believes he can bring back home the title if he secures the funding to travel to Europe.

“I expect to win the title if I can get the funding. I have been training hard and I’m fully prepared for the challenge that I will find at this competition,” added the 23-year-old.
