DeMbare targets struggling Shabanie

HARARE - Dynamos will be hoping to remain on track to win their fourth consecutive Castle Premiership title when they face struggling Shabanie Mine at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.

The Harare giants are currently on top of the log standing with 43 points, two points ahead of second-placed ZPC Kariba.

Like in the last two seasons, DeMbare coach Calisto Pasuwa seems to be a good strategist as the Harare giants are now grinding positive results with their rivals losing steam.

During the first half of the season, DeMbare were blowing hot and cold before reaching the mid-season break in third position just three points behind then log leaders Highlanders.

However, with seven games remaining before the end of the season, DeMbare are now back on top of the log after picking up points with some consistency in the second half of the season despite playing some uninspiring football.

Like in their previous match against FC Platinum, Dynamos played second fiddle to the youthful Zvishavane-based side but still emerged from Mandava Stadium with a valuable point.

Highlanders could not take advantage of DeMbare’s slip-up as they fell 1-0 to Harare City allowing ZPC Kariba to sneak into second place.

Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro is well aware of the threat posed by the relegation-threatened asbestos miners this afternoon.

“We normally have a problem when playing these small teams. But we need to improve or risk losing the title,” Chihoro said earlier this week.

“We are going with the mentality to play a very good game against a very tough side. We are going into this match with a clear idea to play our game, to play our style, and also to try if we can maintain, the high standards that we have shown in our previous matches.

“We have the belief in every single game that we are going to win. We always have the belief that we are going to win.

Chihoro believes there is still a long way to go before talking about the championship.

“We still have a long way to go. There is a lot of competition especially at this stage of this season. Other teams are fighting relegation and they will not make it easy for us,” he said.

“We need to win all our remaining matches without worrying of other results.”

Shabanie will be hoping to keep their relegation hopes alive, they are currently on third position from the bottom of the log standing with 27 points.

The Zvishavane side knows that a win against Dynamos will be a morale booster on their journey to survive the chop.
