Bowling tourney attracts top talent

HARARE - City Bowling Club will host this year's Zimbabwe's October 5s bowling tournament at the start of next month.

The three-day tournament, which has attracted the country's top bowlers, is scheduled for October 10-12 at City Bowlers Club.

City Bowling Club manager Joyce Kachale confirmed the event.

"This year's event  will be  a remarkable  one as it managed  to attract bowlers  from as  far  as Thailand and locally we are fully subscribed.

"We are expecting  bowlers from various  parts  of  the  country to attend  such  a  huge  event," said Kachale.

"Eighteen teams which comprise five players each have confirmed their attendance so far."

She said the stage was now set for the tournament and hailed the corporate support from companies who are sponsoring the teams.

"All is set for the competition and we are expecting the players to beat the venue.

"We want to extend  our thanks to those companies which are sponsoring various bowlers; companies such as Nssa, Cyclone Industrial and Wedge to mention but a few, " said Kachale.

"The prize money will be auctioned and all the teams will bid on themselves before the event and the winner will take all.

"Registration will be conducted on Thursday October 9 and the tournament will be open to all the bowlers in Zimbabwe."

Kachale said teams would draw their competition number at registration.

The tournament is open to everyone who is interested in taking part in the World Championships.
