DeMbare survive Platinum blitz

HARARE - Dynamos felt their point at Mandava Stadium was the best result for their efforts after surviving an FC Platinum onslaught here yesterday.

Platinum were offensive from the onset, dominating in all departments. The platinum miners were compact in the midfield where Tatenda Dzumbunu, Thabani Kamusoko and Wisdom Mutasa controlled play.

The home side were denied what looked like a clear penalty in the 25th minute when Obrey Chirwa was tripped inside the box by Augustine Mbara.

Referee Mlindeli Ndebele waved play on.

Walter Musona had a shot cleared off the line by Blessing Moyo on the stroke of halftime. Dynamos were lifeless in the first half and did not have a single shot on target.

The usually reliable striking combination of Simba Sithole and Roderick Mutuma failed to click, with Sithole limping off in the 43rd minute and was replaced by Washington Pakamisa.

Mutuma, who was to be replaced by Anesu Gondo in the second half, chased shadows and spent most of the time remonstrating against match officials.

Dynamos came out better in the second half with Devon Chafa who replaced for the injured Tafadzwa Rusike stabilising the midfield. With Tawanda Muparati now playing wide on the left, Dynamos gained an upper hand but failed to fashion out clear goal scoring opportunities.

Platinum coach Norman Mapeza reacted by bringing in Simon Shoko, who managed to neutralise the Dynamos attacks. Mapeza was content with the draw despite having an upper hand in the first half.

“We played well, the players are now adapting to my tactics,” Mapeza said.

“A point gained is still ok because in football you can still draw despite dominating.”

Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa conceded his team played second fiddle to Platinum in the first half.

“We were slow in the first half with them being all over us. The point gained is still good for us,” said Pasuwa.
