Makombe debuts with a try

HARARE - Zimbabwean winger Shayne Makombe got his Sharks Club XV debut off to a good start on Monday evening after weighing in with a try to help the side to a thumping 82-12 victory over Griquas NWK Rural.

The victory was a perfect start for Sharks Club XV in the South African Rugby Union Central Amateur Provincial Championship that is running from September 15 to 19 at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe.

The eight-team tournament also saw Griffons defeat Wildebeest 42-37 whilst Griquas Central won 34-10 against Free State Rural and Free State beat Griffons Rural 36-22.

These results earned Sharks Club XV a place in the Cup semi-final against Free State which was scheduled for yesterday whilst Griquas Central were expected to clash with Griffons in the other semi-final.

In the Plate semi-finals, Free State Rural took on Wildebeest Rural and Griquqa Rural lined up against Griffons NWK Rural.
