CABS St George's T20 tourney begins

HARARE - The battle for schoolboy cricket supremacy gets underway today when 11 schools descend on St George’s College in Harare for the annual CABS Twenty20 Cricket Schools tournament.

Defending champions Peterhouse College will be hoping to once again stamp their authority at the annual event that has previously been won by Churchill, St George’s and St John’s College.

But the Marondera giants will be fully aware that the 11th edition of the three-day festival will be different kettle of fish, with competing sides having sharpened up over the year.

The tournament is divided into three groups with Pool A seeing the hosts squaring off with Harare’s Hellenic School as well as two touring South African sides St Andrew's College and St Benedicts on Madden Field.

Pool B sees Peterhouse go head to head with Falcon, Churchill and South Africa’s St Alban's College.

The quartet will be on Connell Field.

Weaver Field will host Pool C that will consist of St John's, Prince Edward, Christian Brothers College and South Africa’s Parktown Boys.
