Bosso wary of tricky Buffaloes

HARARE - Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu is well aware of the challenge posed by a “tricky” Buffaloes side when the two meet in a Castle Premiership match at Hartsfield Ground this afternoon.

Second-placed Bosso will be hoping to maintain the pressure on log leaders Dynamos, who they trail by only a single point, by collecting maximum points against the Mutare-based soldiers.

With only nine games to go before the season ends, the Bulawayo giants need to win all their remaining matches and hope DeMbare slip-up along the way for them to have a chance to win their first league title since 2006.

“They (Buffaloes) are one of the most tricky teams in the league and like I always say all the opponents are good and that’s why they are in the league,” Kaindu said.

“We just pray that God will be on our side and we will be able to win on Wednesday.”

During the first half of the season, Bosso were able to emerge from Sakubva Stadium with a impressive 3-1 win over Buffaloes.

Since then the Mutare soldiers have parted ways with coach Luke Masomere, who went to join How Mine, and replaced him with the well-travelled Moses Chunga.

It will be Chunga’s first match in charge of Watungwa Watungwa and the former Chiredzi Fc coach will be hoping to get off the mark with a positive result.

Bosso were in active at the weekend during the One Wallet Cup semi-finals played in Zvishavane at Mandava Stadium.

It was a welcome break for the Bulawayo giants which gave them ample time to recharge their batteries for the meeting with Buffaloes.

“It was a blessing for us because we had almost half of our players limping minor and other injuries that kept them out of the weekend,” said Kaindu of the weekend break.

“When we were told that there were no league games because of the semi-finals of the One Wallet Cup, it gave out players and the team a few days to recover from the injuries they had.”

Highlanders forward Charles Sibanda, who is currently the leading scorer in the league with 13 goals, hopes to add more goals to his tally today.

“Like I said before when the season started, my target is score at least 20 goals this season and I’m confident that I will be able to achieve that tally,” said Sibanda.
