John Legend show cancelled

HARARE - The long-awaited Harare concert for nine-time Grammy Award winner and multi-platinum selling crooner John Legend has been cancelled, according to the show website.

The show was scheduled for November 19 at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC). It was part  of the singer/songwriter’s first stop in Zimbabwe, and part of the neo-soul vocalist's worldwide All Of Me tour.

The concert organiser, Dave Davies,  said he will issue out a statement on Wednesday.

Legend had scheduled a Harare gig in between his South African tour, and his reasons for cancelling are yet unknown.

He tweeted in June confirming that he was coming to Zimbabwe.

The tweet read, “Zimbabwe! I am excited to announce that I will be playing a show in Harare on Nov 19th. Presale tickets available this Sunday. Cant wait!”

I'm actually happy that the show was cancelled coz as with experience from all previous shows, Zimbos were going to be ripped off. Either the show doesn't live up to expectations or the tickets are highest in Zim than in other show venues, SA, for example.

While I am a fan of John Legend and would have gladly seized the opportunity to attend the show, I did not believe the initial show announcement and remained in disbelief and did not respond to the bookings and ticketing until the cancellation. The show bookings and ticketing logistics were appalling. I do not mind paying a premium for good organisation.
