Bosso hand Mapeza first defeat

ZVISHAVANE - Norman Mapeza suffered his first Castle Premiership defeat as FC Platinmu coach at Mandava Stadium on Sunday.

The win was ample proof that Bosso are capable of mounting a sustained title challenge, having been last crowned champions of Zimbabwe back in 2006.

Defender Felix Chindungwe was at his imperious best, breaking every Platinum attack and Charles Sibanda scored the all-important goal.

"We came here with a positive mind and we did just that. We had a positive approach to the game because we wanted to win," said Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu.

Highlanders showed intent from the start with Charles Sibanda and Njabulo Ncube combining well.

Their hunger quickly paid off when Sibanda tapped in past Francis Tizayi after delightful build-ups involving Ncube as early as three minutes into the game.

Bruce Kangwa sent in a long ball that Sibanda flicked onto to the path of Ncube, who laid back the ball back to Sibanda to tap past an outdrawn Tizayi.

Platinum came back in the second half the stronger side but lacked the cutting edge for most of the half.

Platinum coach Norman Mapeza conceded defeat, giving credit to Highlanders for coming up with the right formula to collect maximum points.

"We wanted to win but Highlanders were better than us. It was bound to happen that we lose but I am pleased with the display," said Mapeza.
