Gospel artiste praises Mhere

HARARE - Rising gospel artiste Gift Mahlupeka has attributed the success of his single Zvinoita Mwari to the support he is getting from fellow gospel musician Mathias Mhere.

The single, which will be part of Chipinge-born Mahlupeka’s forthcoming album, has received a lot of air play particularly on National FM where it has become a regular on the
station’s Top 20.

“Mhere is playing a pivotal role in marketing the track. He even performs the track during some of his concerts.

“I am also grateful for the way he is marketing it through social media. Due to the support from Mhere, music fans are now voting for my song in increasing numbers,” said Mahlupeka.

The gospel musician, who leads a group called The Heralds of God, told the Daily News that the track, which was produced by Lyton Ngolomi, was inspired by his poor background.

“I took my time writing the song because I wanted to reflect how God has uplifted my life,” He said.

The rising musician has two albums under his belt which are Breakthrough and his latest project Warfare.

The latter carries songs such as Mhondoro, Musandisiye, Zviyo Nesora, Mwaka, Nechikonzero, Mbiri Ndeyashe and Munamato Womufambi.

Mahlupeka is a great fan of musicians Progress Mapfumo and veteran gospel artiste Charles Charamba.

“I grew up listening to the music of these two great musicians and hopefully I will be able to do duets with them some day,” he said.
