Dynamos held, back on top

HARARE - Dynamos returned to the top of the Castle Premiership standings despite being held by Hwange yesterday.

Dynamos were the first to score in the first half through Tafadzwa Rusike before Hwange staged a late comeback to equalise through Farayi Fimisayi.

The Harare giants are now on top with 36 points, one point ahead of second placed Highlanders.

Dynamos assistant coach Philimon Matayakureva, who was in charge of the team in the absence of Calisto Pasuwa, refused to speak to the media after the match claiming that team manager Richard Chihoro was the one in charge.

Chihoro also declined to talk to reporters.

However, midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike was delighted with the team’s showing despite the draw.

“I think we played very well, although we lost concentration during the final minutes of the game,” Rusike said.

“I am happy to score my first goal at Dynamos. I think I will continue with this form going forward.

“Everyone in the team is playing very well and I think we are in the right direction in as far as the championship is concerned.”

Hwange assistant coach Brian Njovu said:

“I am happy, we never gave up, we showed character today but I think we should have won this game had we utilided our chances.

“A point away from home is not bad though.”

Dynamos started the match lively, controlling the game in the midfield and could havve scored their first goal as early as 10 minutes after Simba Sithole won the possession inside but shot wide.

The Harare giants continue to pile pressure and were duly rewarded in the 25th minute after Rusike scored with a spectacular long range effort from outside the box.

After the breather the game swung this way and that but with little goal-mouth action.

Dembare iteam yedu rova ngoma usekerere. There are three results in a league match WIN,DRAW OR LOSE. I'm happy with the team played under difficult circumstances. Maximum respect for F. Vimisayi saying FOOTBALL its just a game, They a no grudge matches every team plays to win but you can not have all results going yo way. Dembare fo life. Chazunguza.
