Zanu PF is finished

EDITOR — For ages, Zanu PF has been portraying itself as a saintly party and making fools of opposition parties.

The current events taking place in the revolutionary party are a sure sign that it is finished.

While, its party leader President Robert Mugabe can be seen as the only thread binding the party together, at least for now, I believe he is more to blame.

His failure to relinquish power timeously has created problems. His desire to remain at the helm of the party has resulted in the current impasse that is threatening to tear the party apart for good.

Zanu PF is sitting on a time bomb that can explode at any minute as the party’s stalwarts jostle to take up strategic positions.

The fight has become an open battle, with sides showing where their true allegiance lies. There is no better recipe for the destruction of such a big party.

Members are fighting each other, with accusations and counter accusations reigning supreme in the once strong party.

Everything within the party is now being determined according to faction lines, making it a dangerous situation.

Zanu PF has now been reduced to two parties using the same name, as the discord testifies of power-hungry people, who are not concerned about the general populace.

For the past 34 years, Zanu PF has been in power, the economic situation in the country has been in shambles, and now with the bickering no solutions are forthcoming.

As the party braces for the elective congress in December, it’s an “eye-for-an-eye” affair, as everybody is working towards the success of his or her own faction.

For a party that has been in existence for several decades, one would expect it to be more organised, with proper structures and a clear succesion plan on who will take over the reins in the event that Mugabe is incapacitated .

During the women’s conference, Mugabe was endorsed as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2018 elections. By then the old man will be 94, making it a somewhat awkward situation.

The party now looks clueless and appears stuck with Mugabe, at the same time destroying itself. The electorate will surely lose confidence in such a party that has failed to organise itself and find a suitable person to succeed its nonagenarian leader.

It will however, remain a fact whether Zanu PF like it or not, that Mugabe will one day leave, but without a clear-cut policy on what will happen, the situation could be chaotic.

If it's true that ZPF is finished, how come in 2014 it's still winning by-elections??!! Come 2018 it will still win, and as usual, Chematama will cry foul about "rigging", "reforms" and "an uneven playing field"

white is white even the angels are white , whites treat you the manner you will live better than our fellow blacks. During Smith time bread and milk used to be delivered door step and pay later. Electricity never shead or black out without apology. When did you last visit your rural home? in Smith time it was every weekend. Food for thought.
