Masakadza dropped, Raza and Waller back

BULAWAYO – Zimbabwe have dropped seamer Shingi Masakadza for Tuesday’s second ODI against South Africa after the opening bowler conceded 77 runs for no wicket in the first one-dayer at the weekend.

Masakadza was targeted for persecution by the South African batsmen, who laid a solid foundation for the Proteas’ 93-run win at the Queens Sports Club on Sunday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series being played here.

Debutants Luke Jongwe and Neville Madziva also took a pounding from the Proteas batsmen, but the pair has been retained in a 15-man squad announced by Zimbabwe Cricket Monday.

Batsmen Sikandar Raza Butt and Malcolm Waller return to the Zimbabwe side after missing the one-off Test against South Africa in Harare and Sunday’s first ODI.

Meanwhile, ZC also announced Monday that 19-year-old Luke Jongwe has been fined for breaking a team curfew.

Squad for 2nd ODI

Elton Chigumbura (captain), Sikandar Raza Butt, Luke Jongwe, Neville Madziva, Timycen Maruma, Hamilton Masakadza, Richmond Mutumbami, John Nyumbu, Tinashe Panyangara, Vusi Sibanda, Brendan Taylor, Prosper Utseya, Brian Vitori, Malcolm Waller, Sean Williams.
