Man denied bail for raping minor

HARARE - A 28-year-old Waterfalls man who silenced his six-year-old niece with a plate of rice after allegedly raping her will languish in remand prison after he was denied bail by the High Court yesterday.

High Court Judge Loice Matanda-Moyo denied Simbarashe Chimhamhiwa bail, after the State said his trial had already commenced at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.

According to state papers, the incident leading to Chimhamhiwa’s arrest took place on June 1, this year.

It is alleged Chimhamhiwa called the juvenile into the house, while she was playing with her friends.

When the girl came, the court heard Chimhamhiwa checked to see if there was anyone around.

He allegedly placed her on the bed, where he removed her panties, before taking off his own clothes.

Chimhamhiwa allegedly raped the girl and thereafter gave her a plate of rice in a bid to silence her.

The offence came to light later that day, when the girl’s grandmother was bathing her.

The court heard that she observed some whitish substance and bruises on the girl’s private parts.

She also discovered some “unusual” fluids on the girl’s panties, it is alleged.

According to State papers, the girl’s grandmother realised that the minor was having difficulties in walking.

She asked the girl, who later revealed the rape, leading to Chimhamhiwa’s arrest.

Six year old girl? and the man 28 years? I am wondering if this man is normal. If at all its true that he slept with this mine may you please let him rot in jail with Gumbura. Let them rape each other.
