Old Mutual boost for Davies Cup team

HARARE - The Zimbabwe Davies Cup team received a timely boost yesterday from Old Mutual were they received sponsorship worth $17 330.

The sponsorship comes at a time the team is preparing for a Euro-Africa Group Two tournament to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from September 8-13.

12 teams will take up part in the tournament and the top two teams will be promoted to Group 1.

The Zimbabwe team comprises of current number one Takanyi Garanganga and Mark Flynn, who have both been playing on the Association of Tennis Professionals Circuit. Benjamin Lock and veteran Martin Dzuwa completes the team.  Dzuwa will captain the side.

TZ vice-president Martin Lock welcomed the Old Mutual sponsorship.

“We are in debited to Old Mutual for their support and trust in their efforts to developing tennis in Zimbabwe,” Lock said.

“We are truly grateful to Old Mutual in their investment and assistance for our trip to Egypt. We won’t take this sponsorship for granted.”
