Tsholotsho assume top spot

HARARE - Tsholotsho shot to the top of the Southern Region Division One Soccer League table courtesy of a 2-0 victory against Mpumalanga over the weekend.

The log leaders disposed Technosphere, who had topped the log standings prior to Tsholotsho game in hand fixture that ended 2-0 against Mpumalanga.

With Southern Region Division One Soccer league reaching the half way mark, Tsholotsho now lead the log standing with 27 points, one ahead of second-placed Technosphere.

Zifa Eastern Region Soccer League Division One pacesetters Mutare City Rovers opened a five-point gap at the summit of the log after beating visiting Black Eagles 3-0.

Second-placed Eastern Stars fell further behind after went down to Mwenezana 2-1 on Sunday.

Mutare City now leads the log standing with 35 points while Stars, owned by Mudzi South legislator and prominent lawyer Jonathan Samkange are on second position with 30 points.

World Navi Northern Region Division One Soccer League pacesetters Gunners maintained their stranglehold on pole position with a 2-0 win over Twalumba FC at Dzivareskwa Stadium on Saturday.

The 2009 Zimbabwean champions now top the log standings with 40 points, three points ahead of second-placed Flame Lilly.
