Dynamos target goalie Mhari

HARARE - Dynamos are interested in FC Platinum goalkeeper Petros Mhari as a long term replacement for George Chigova.

Chigova left for South Africa last month after signing for Absa Premiership side SuperSport United following his impressive display for the Zimbabwe at the African Nations Championship earlier this year.

With his departure, DeMbare were left with only two goalkeepers, Artwell Mukandi and Tatenda Makuruva.

Mukandi has stepped into Chigova’s shoes at the Glamour Boys but it seems there are still some doubts regarding his ability.

Since Chigova’s departure, Mukandi has done a reasonable job between the sticks for the defending champions.

The former Monomotapa goalie has played started in six official games since then and has conceded only three goals.

Makuruva, who is still only 18-year-old, is considered to be still young and the club is not yet prepared to give him a chance.

The club has identified Mhari as the ideal replacement for the Chigova during this transfer window.

However, pricing him away from Zvishavane during this mid-season transfer window could prove difficult for the Harare giants.

In the event that DeMbare are not able to sign him before the close the transfer window, they are hoping to get Mhari as a free agent at the end of the season.

The former Hwange goalkeeper’s contract with the platinum miners comes to an end in December.

If FC Platinum do not offer their number 1 a contract extension, it would open the door for his move to Harare.

Meanwhile, Gweru-based side Chapungu have completed the signing of defender Blessing Zabula from CAPS United and striker Phllip Marufu from Black Rhinos.

Chapungu are hovering just above the relegation zone with 16 points from 15 games and hope the duo’s arrival can spark their survival campaign.

Bulawayo side Chicken Inn announced the signing of striker Last Chibwiro from Division One side Black Mambas on Friday.

“Last Chibwiro has joined us on a two year contract from Black Mambas,” said the club on their official website.

“Chibwiro expressed his delight in joining the Gamecocks and said he was looking forward to scoring goals for the club.

“Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube said Chibwiro would increase options upfront for the Gamecocks.”
