Jah Prayzah sets release date for new DVD

HARARE - Award winning artiste Jah Prayzah will release a DVD compilation of his latest album Kumbumura Mhute in September this year.

The videos on the forthcoming DVD album have been directed by National Arts Merit Award (Nama) winning music video director Willard “Slimaz” Magombedze. Slimaz directed the videos for Jah Prayzah’s songs Mwanasikana and Tsviriyo.

The Mwanasikana video, off the Tsviriyo album, landed the 2013 Outstanding Video of the Year award.

Jah Prayzah told the Daily News that the Kumbumura Mhute DVD will be launched on the same date he launched the Tsviriyo video last year.

“Everything is going according to plan and we hope to release the DVD on September 29 which is the same date we released our last DVD album last year,” said the Uzumba -born artiste.

Magombedze, the director of the Kumbumura Mhute videos, has promised to come up with videos that meet  world class standard.

“Whenever I listen to a song, I start to visualise what the video should look like.

Pictures alone should tell a story without the aid of audio,” he told the Daily News.

“We are not bragging but the truth is videos done at Slimaz productions are of much higher standard than those does elsewhere in Zimbabwe. We always strive for the best that is why awards come our way.”

Jah Prayzah hopes the release of the Kumbumura Mhute DVD album will promote his latest album, which was launched on April 16 this year at the Harare International Conference Centre.

Tracks on the album include Mukadzi Wangu, Makanika, Sei Mambo?, Kunobuda Zuva, Kumagumo and Dali Wami which features Tswana diva Magdalene “Charma Gal” Lesolebe-Chagwa .

Jah Prayzah’s five albums are Rudo Nerunyararo, Sungano Yerudo, Ngwarira Kuparara, Tsviriyo and Kumbumura Mhute.
