Buffaloes end Shabanie home run

ZVISHAVANE - Buffaloes ended Shabanie Mine's unbeaten home record this term with a 2-1 win at Maglas Stadium yesterday.

Roy Mwenga and Prosper Matizanadzo scored two second half goals to cancel out a Daniel Chakupe’s first half strike.

The result was a fruitful return to Maglas for former Shabanie captain Tafadzwa Mombeshora, who complimented Matizanadzo in the midfield.

"It's nice that we have picked up our winning momentum again but it's sad that I have inflicted pain on a team that I l also love,” Mombeshora said.

“I have sweet memories from here and Shabanie remains part of me. But its football, life has to go on," said Mombeshora.

Buffaloes made their intentions clear from the start that they intended to build from their last week won over Chapungu with Matizanadzo's blistering shot missing target by inches.

Buffaloes continued probing but it was Shabanie who got the opener with chakupe beating Blessing Mwandimutsira from the run of play. The Mutare side came into the second stanza more lethal with Mwenga causing problems on the wings and was rewarded with a goal. Matizanadzo capped it up with 16 minutes to go after he was allow a free header inside the box.
