ZPC Kariba remain unbeaten in PSL

HWANGE - ZPC Kariba extended their unbeaten run to 14 games after handing Hwange their third consecutive defeat in the Castle Premiership after emerging from the Colliery with a 2-0 yesterday.

Hwange, who had a dream start to the new season, have recently lost their way owing to back-to-back losses to Chicken Inn and CAPS United.

They now occupy fifth position with 22 points.

First half goals from Artwell Nyamiwa and Limited Chikafa were enough for the Kariba side to add more misery to the coalminers who were at home.

With the win, ZPC move into second position on the Castle Premiership log standings with 24 points, the same number of points with log leaders Highlanders who, however, boost a superior goal difference.

Turning to yesterday’s match, the visitors dominated the coal miners from the first whistle, showing their intentions to win, but Chikafa missed a good chance in the seventh minute following a cross from Pride Tafirenyika.

The opening minutes clearly belonged to the visitors as Hwange were forced into their own half with the ZPC midfielder enjoying the better of the exchanges.

ZPC were duly rewarded for their dominance after Nyamiwa scored with a long range shot in the 23rd minute.

ZPC kept their foot on the pedal and registered their second goal in the 37th minute after Chikafa received a pass from Tafirenyika before firing past Hwange goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya.

After the breather, Hwange introduced a more attacking game but ZPC’s back four, well marshalled by Ephraim Mwinga, stood firm to carry the Kariba side to their 14th unbeaten game.
