Chipendu joins Sables in Madagascar

HARARE - Experienced forward Fortune Chipendu has been summoned to join Zimbabwe for Sunday’s make-or-break World Cup final qualifier against Kenya as replacement to the injured Jan Ferreira and Njabulo Ndlovu.

Lock Ferreira and flank Ndlovu have both been ruled out of the match after picking injuries in the 24-20 loss to Namibia on Wednesday.

Old Georgians star Chipendu, a versatile forward who is equally comfortable in the second row and loose trio, arrives in Antananarivo this afternoon after being initially left out of the Sables’ original squad.

The Sables’ quest to qualify for their first World Cup since 1991 took a knock when they lost to old nemesis Namibia, having opened with a thumping 57-22 win over hosts Madagascar on Saturday.
