Doves to sponsor football tourney

HARARE - Doves Funeral Assurance is set to unveil a new football tournament for lower league teams that will be bankrolled to the tune of $10 000.

The knockout tournament will feature 53 clubs from the Zifa Harare Province Division Two and Three leagues.

Doves will also offer a funeral policy scheme to players and officials with contributions of $3 as minimum and $5 as maximum per month.

The launch of the Doves Harare Province League Cup will take place tomorrow night at a local hotel.

Zifa Harare province vice chairman Robert Tembo told the Zifa official website that he was very elated by the development.

“We are very grateful to Doves Funeral Services for partnering us in developing the mass popular sport in the country,” said Tembo.

He also urged other corporate companies to emulate the gesture.

“I am encouraging other companies to partner football as it will motivate players and raise the standards of our clubs,” he said.
