Ex-Bok prop to assist Sables

HARARE - Former Springbok prop Balie Swart will assist Zimbabwe in their World Cup qualification tournament courtesy of the IRB.

The 1995 World Cup winner will take the Sables through their paces in the last three days of their 10-day camp in Harare.

The Sables will hope to make the most of the expert scrum trainer after the Zimbabwe Rugby Union failed to secure any meaningful warm-matches ahead of their sink or swim challenge in Madagascar.

“The Zimbabwe Rugby Union are pleased to announce that the Sables have received a welcome boost ahead of their training camp for the Rugby World Cup Qualifiers, that is scheduled from the 16th- 26th June in Harare and are grateful to the IRB (International Rugby Board) for their assistance in facilitating this,” ZRU said in a statement yesterday.

Swart is currently working for South Africa Rugby as a scrum coach and selector.

Previously Swart was the scrum coach for the Sharks franchise, but currently also works with SANZAR developing coaches and referees- especially with the scrum.
