Mandenge wants Green Machine response

HARARE - Old HARARIANS coach Cyprian Mandenge insists his side’s tough start to the National Rugby League (NRL) has put them in a better state of mind as they come up against rivals Harare Sports Club tomorrow.

The reigning champions are currently trailing log leaders Harare Sports Club by four points after playing out three wins and one defeat.

Their first loss of the season came last weekend at the hands of Old Georgians, going down 32-36.

Now, Mandenge wants a response from the Green Machine against the log leaders and rivals this weekend.

“It’s good to lose first then come back rather going on a good run and then be exposed later in the season. No coach wants to loose but it happens,” Mandenge said yesterday.

“It’s up to you to look back and correct where you went wrong. The guys have realised there are areas they need to work on and they have been working throughout this week. We want to play exciting rugby.”

Mandenge urged his charges to stick to their game.

“We have nothing to prove. We just have to play our normal game. Last year, look, we lost to OGs and we bounced back during the season.

“Ideally, you don’t want lose but when you lose you do an introspection and it’s a learning curve.

“Ideally, you want to pick off where you left off and we need to start against Sports Club. Knowing Sports Club, they play exciting rugby but we also have to be at our best.”
