Dragons burn Rams in second-half blitz

HARARE - St George's College hammered rivals St John's College 41 -13 on the final day of the Harare Provincial Rugby trials at the weekend.

Saints, who were hosting the event, proved too powerful for Scott Gray’s Rams, scoring seven tries compared against John’s one.

St. George's scored the first try early but failed to convert. They extended the lead to 10-0 before the Rams were awarded a penalty, which was missed.

The Rams kept the pressure on and scored a converted try to leave the score at 10-7. A penalty awarded to St John's then took the half-time score to 10-10.

But Saints, coached by former Zimbabwe youth international Brendon Brider, turned on the style in the second half to blitz their city rivals.

The Dragons scored two tries which they successfully converted before the Rams replied with another penalty taking the score to 24-13.

George's then went on to score two unconverted tries before they sealed the victory with a converted try.
