HARARE - Music lovers will tonight be treated to a dose of different music as the country’s renowned artistes including legend Oliver Mtukudzi throng the Book Café in Harare for Suluman Chimbetu is 32nd birthday party tonight.

Suluman’s publicist Joe “Local” Nyamungoma told the Daily News that music stars Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah as well as various dance hall groups will perform at the bash organised by the Dendera prodigy in collaboration with his family.

“It is Suluman’s way of saying thank you to his fans, fellow artistes as well as promoters and the corporate world for the unwavering support that they have given him over the years,” said Nyamungoma.

Nyamungoma said Suluman’s uncle Allan together with the other Chimbetus — Tryson and Douglas who also front their own Dendera outfits will join the Orchestra Dendera Kings frontman on the stage as the family celebrates with him.

“The Chimbetus will also perform using the same band because it will be a family affair. We invite all our fans as well as the media to come and enjoy the night with us,” he said.

Suluman took over the reins as the Orchestra Dendera Kings leader after the death of Simon, his father.

The Dendera superstar currently has four albums under his belt, they include Ndomusiya Nani, Reverse Deal, Non Stop and most recently Syllabus which have all done extremely well on the market.

Nyamungoma said Dendera fans should expect another gem of an album that is yet to be named in August.

“Another album is in the offing and must be ready by August.

“It features some of the songs that Suluman has been playing at public gatherings recently.

“Although we have not come up with titles for them yet but fans have already coined titles such as Sekuru Benson, Mukanya and Nyuchi for some of the songs.”

According to Nyamungoma Suluman was first introduced to the stage by his father but during his childhood he fronted a small band Dendera Trekkers that he later abandoned after being roped into his fathers’ outfit.

The Dendera maestro’s publicist said Suluman is happily married to Loveness Samuriwo with whom they have no children.

However, Chimbetu has four children of his own from a previous marriage.
