'Tsvangirai is like Wenger'

HARARE - Morgan Tsvangirai’s rule at the helm of the MDC has been compared to the reign of Arsene Wenger, the manger for English football club Arsenal, who went on a-nine-year trophy-less stint until last Saturday’s FA Cup win over Hull City.

The comparison was made by Job ‘‘Wiwa” Sikhala at a rally in Glen View South in Harare last weekend.

“There were nine years of pain and suffering for Arsenal fans and in the MDC there are people who thought that when this struggle started, it was going to be won on the ninth minute not knowing that it would go to extra time,” Job Sikhala said.

In apparent reference to members who walked out of the MDC camp, Sikhala said Arsenal lost some of its best players “who had given up any hope of winning such as Thiery Henry, Patrick Vieira, Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Alexander Hleb and Alex Song.”
“But on Saturday, I saw Wenger being hoisted by his players in celebration after the Cup victory and now that we are going into the extra time with our struggle, you shall see Tsvangirai being raised in jubilation having brought power to the MDC,” Sikhala said.

Tapiwa Mashakada, the newly appointed party secretary-general who stood in for Tsvangirai at the rally, took a dig at his predecessor Tendai Biti together with ex-deputy treasurer-general Elton Mangoma for failing the party as its chief negotiators.

“We thought we had sent people to negotiate on our behalf while in actual fact they negotiated to have Tsvangirai out of power,” Mashakada said.

Meanwhile, the MDC will hold a rally on Sunday at the Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfield to mark Africa Day.

The story of Arsenal nine year trophy drought and Arsene Wenger is something that serves as a learning curve and there for everyone to learn from and in particular those with goals to achieve. it shows that one has to be patient, focus and to keep trying and more so that money is not everything but by planning you can succeed for now they have a big stadium, their debt is in control and they are now on the road to success. Vakuru vakati kumhanya hakusi kusvika. I hope one day Zimbos pleas will be answered. May those leading the MDC T not lose heart but to keep keeping on the road to success is not easy it is always littered with pain and heartaches. It is the ability to withstand those hardships that keeps you alive and sees you through. Go Morgan go.

Tsvangiruza will always lose against any ZANUPF presidential candidate , until his role of ``main actor`` is buried .

Cde Mzvinavhu(Prof) - 20 May 2014

This comparison is way off base on many many levels. Wenger is a professional manager, and Tsvangirai is an unintelligent, corrupt, misguided and poor decision-maker even his own wives cannot trust his own judgement. If so, why should Zimbabwe trust this guy? 2. Wenger is not corrupt, but he has been patient. He is a proven leader. The same cannot be said of Tsvangirai. He is a coward who cannot look into the mirror to see the man messing around with the fortunes of the nation of Zimbabwe. The only reason we were in a bad GNU is because Tsvangirai is a lunatic who thought he was in control of the negotiations and dreamt of controlling government. He failed. Tsvangirai will not accept responsibility for anything , but for those with good memory, does anyone remember why he was at one time comically known as " Morgan "Boycott" Tsvangirai? He talked large about demonstrations only to chicken out when the rest of the masses were at the ready. Anyone, who thinks the MDC-T is going anywhere with this man at the helm needs a psychiatrist's examination. There is no progress ever going to come from Tsvangirai and his corterie of greedy hangers-on. Nothing . Zimbabwe forget about the promised Zion it is not coming.

Mhazi from Florida - 20 May 2014

What a marvelous reference by Sinkala. FA Cup is not championship, its like winning some seats in parliament. Its high time MDC-T consider engaging for the real 'CUP' - Presidency

It only goes to show MDC T is not serious as it take Zimbabweans for a ride!!! Governing a country is not a game.....winning elections and scoring goals in a soccer match are two very different things. Now I understand why MDC T is always complaining after losing elections...with the likes of Sikhala in their ranks..... the match is already fixed!!! We can not vote for FOOLS

Those who think Tsvangirai will never rule Zimbabwe should read from the scripts of Senegal `s Abdulaye Wade and Zambia`s Michel Sata.

This comedian by the name sikala never ceases to amuse, Wenger is compared to Mr bean , so Tsvangirai is Mr bean also? kikiki, what an insult.

Some pple are so obsessed with their blind hatred for Tsvangirai. There are also those very jealous of this big man. Then some are disappointed that they failed to bring him down. Tsvangirai usacheuka muridzo wemapenzi. Sikhala's story on Asernal's Wenger is very valid&relevant. Victory is certain. We can't all live on CIO salaries.

Rwarai - 20 May 2014

Thank you Mr Sikhala for such a good comparison. I would liken Tsvangirai to the spider that never gives up when its web gets destroyed, it keeps getting back at re-building its web over and over again until the destroyer gives up. Robert the Bruce made that observation and with it he took over Scotland.

LEAVE TSVANGIRAI ALONE: Zimbabweans make fools OF themselves despite our good education we do not have a vision - We are too stark , confused lots who voted for hunger, suffering and economic meltdown. What new is the current Govt going to bring that they have not done before. Tsvangirai has not committed a crime in actual fact most of you DO NOT vote. The future of this country is determined by illiterate people in rural areas who do not know why they are voting and what they are voting for. Just cattle being led to slaughter. If you do not vote and think baboons will vote for you stupid. Tsvangirai can not translate his vote in millions of people. Just check in Harare there over 4millions residents how many bothered to vote. Biti and friends directionless and power hungry is driving them. They can not blame Tsvangirai for the loss of the MDC-T when BITI was the chief Administrator of the party and Mangoma chief Finance admin. These guys will achieve nothing time will tell and judge them not harshly. What did Ncube harvest despite several degrees, To be a leader in politics you do not need a single degree even a certificate but quality advisors and the ability to mobilise people. Does Zuma have any degree. The educated in the history of the world are the worst dictators in the mould of BITI and Welshman. if this country is ruled with such king of people GOD forbid. THE SO CALLED EDUCATED PEOPLE OUT THERE ENJOY YOUR VOTE UNTIL 2018. WE ARE ALWAYING NIKUVING OURSELVES PUTTING THE BLAME ON ONE PERSON STUPID STOP IT.

People are so short sighted and forget what happened to Wenger before the so called 9 years of no trophies.Remember the INVINCIBLES who won many titles and trophies so to equate a total FAILURE like Morgay Tsvangsanctions to a born winner like VENGER beggars belief and big time DELUSIONAL.

shame ,so do u tell me that winning an F.A CUP for Wenger is an achievement that Arsenal fans should bost of in nine years?I see now the problem we have is we pride ourselves in moderation and mediocre. The same we did we did when we entered the Inclusive Government ,we champione ourselves for such a minor trophy like the F.A.Meaning to say Arsenal does not dream of winning the Prestigious tropjies like Champions league, that is our case ,we pride ourselves in petty political achievements

Ko Mashakada anotukirwei ? Some pple are just for outbursting rubbish.Zimbabwe needs solutions not hogwash. Mashakada simply demonstrated his loyalty to MT & that is his right. In the GNU, MDC-T met stiff resistance when they tried to do some of the things to satisfy the masses for fear that they would get credit. Anyway, fighting Tsvangirai & his men will never bring food on our tables. His sleeping with willing women has absolutely nothing to do with his political life. After all he lost his dear wife tragically. We are our own enemies with traitors all over.

Tsvangirai is not a failure by any means. He is our leader, no other Zimbabwean politician shook the political landscape like our esteemed leader. Despite the slanted political environment he has convincingly outperformed our darlings such as Professor Welshman Ncube. And in 2008, according to official results in the first round, he outpolled Zimbabwe's and maybe Africa's greatest politician. Tsvangirai mutungamiri wedu, tinomunda and idhara!

The ZANU PF government, housed as it is in Africa's most educated country, boasts some of the best brains in all spheres. Now show me what Dr Mahachi is doing at the City of Harare with his sharp brains. Also show me what the highly educated and articulate Dr Chombo has done to cities and municipalities. Surely education is overrated.
