Harare City after Pasuwa

HARARE – Struggling Harare City are prepared to offer troubled Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa a job as head of their technical department if the champions decide to fire him, the Daily News has been told.

The three-time championship winning coach is under fire from the DeMbare executive over what the powers that be term a “string of poor results”, although the former club midfielder has only lost thrice, six games into the season with his team just three points behind Castle Premiership leaders Highlanders.

Club sources say Pasuwa had been given a three-match ultimatum to turn things around, or get the sack.

Dynamos executive chairman Kenny Mubaiwa is alleged to have been leading a campaign to fire Pasuwa since the start of the season and the last two defeats in the league, to Chapungu and Buffaloes, have increased pressure on the coach.

Mubaiwa, however, denies the reports.

Pasuwa is, however, said to have been incensed by his treatment at the hands of the club and will be prepared to leave if given a good offer elsewhere.

He has also often faced a barrage of abuse from a section of disgruntled fans after every defeat, further increasing his desire to leave the club he has guided to three league titles, two Mbada Diamonds Cups and several other silverware.

Harare City, who have had an indifferent start to the season, are now waiting in the wings to snap up Pasuwa and strengthen their technical department.

City have lost all their opening six matches under current coach BigboyMawiwi, who shepherded them to a third position finish last season.

Sources within the City camp alluded that the Sunshine Boys authorities believe that Pasuwa has credentials to revive their season.

“The executive feels that Pasuwa can do a lot to revive the team’s waning fortunes and his combination with BigboyMawiwi would make up for the poor start,” the source said.

“They believe that Pasuwa is one of the best coaches around and his expertise will bring a lot to the club.

“The executive also feels that the presence of Pasuwa on the bench will draw neutrals from Dynamos like what happened during the time of Sporting Lions,” said the source in apparent reference to City coach BigboyMawiwi, his assistant David George and chairman Leslie Gwindi, who all have DeMbare backgrounds.

In the event of Pasuwa’s departure, former Dynamos players David Mandigora, MisheckChidzambwa, Elvis Chiweshe, Simon Chuma and TonderaiNdiraya are some of the players who are said to be eyeing the Glamour Boys job.

Mandigora and Chiweshe have previously coached Dynamos while Ndiraya was assistant under Pasuwa. Mandigora, who is part of the current Dynamos executive, ended Dynamos’ decade-long title drought in 2007 when the Harare giants won the championship.

I think this is not fair for Pasuwa.Who has won the league championship and two Mbad Diamonds cups in a row like what Pasuwa has done? He has only lost 3 matches and everyone is up in arms? There are still a lot of games ahead, why not give him a chance?

If it is true that Harare City Football Club is interested in engaging Calisto Pasuwa that should be good news to him. After all this abuse and belittlement why wait? Go to City negotiate for a healthy package. Have a fat bank account and move on. It will a new challenge and young Pasuwa should be adventurous and be our own Jose Mourinho. Yes you played for De Mbare and did win trophies, coached De Mbare and won trophies but handiende attitude nauseates us.Not all good coaches coach Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United no. They coach Man City or Atletico Madrid and prove their worth.Go for it Calisto uvanyadzise
